Doctors of Psychology

Does your client or a claimant express feeling distressed by a personal injury or other situation that has led to a legal case? Maybe the feelings are of hopelessness, loss, lack of control, trauma, anger, or shame. It is the role of a doctor in psychology to understand and analyse the course of events that have led to this point, the extent of the distress, and how the distress is being maintained. Clinical and counselling psychologists are best placed to assess emotional distress and are then able to make recommendations about psychological therapy.
Do you need an expert to analyse emotional distress?
If there are further concerns about memory, concentration, problem-solving skills, or decision making, a psychologist who specialises additionally in neuropsychology is likely to be the best person to assess not only emotional distress but cognitive functioning for your client or a claimant. They can also conduct formal mental capacity assessments (MCAs).
- Our neuropsychologists have access to a wide range of standardised cognitive tests
- All our neuropsychologists are first and foremost qualified clinical or counselling psychologists
- Neuropsychological assessments are comprehensive and holistic, meaning that emotional distress is explored alongside cognitive functioning
- Neuropsychological assessments are generally conducted in person, but can be delivered remotely, if there is a good clinical reason for this
Our psychology experts can assess both adults and children, depending on the need
Where the client is young and still in education, and there are concerns about learning, and or a need to put in place or update an education, health, and care plan (EHCP), the best choice for your expert assessment is an educational psychologist.
Should you wish to instruct one of our doctors of psychology, we would be very willing to discuss your needs and make sure that you are matched with the most appropriate and experienced clinician.
