Emergency Medicine Physician Expert Witness

We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians with clinical expertise in A&E care, triage decision-making, acute injury management, and the assessment of diagnostic accuracy in time-critical settings.

Please note that this is a self-employed role, offering flexibility and independence in your work.

Our service, Medico-Legal Healthcare, connects healthcare professionals with opportunities in the medico-legal industry. It is a spin-out company of The London Neurocognitive Clinic and is registered on Companies House under the name The London Neurocognitive Clinic (Medico-Legal) Ltd (15268814).

As an expert witness, your responsibilities would include conducting comprehensive assessments and producing high-quality expert witness reports. Some cases may also require attendance at meetings with counsel to discuss your assessment and report alongside other expert witnesses. Additionally, you may be required to attend court to present evidence. While some tasks may require in-person attendance, others can be conducted remotely, offering flexibility in how you manage your work.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Applicants must have:

  • Experience at consultant level
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • GMC registration and the right to work in the United Kingdom

Three Routes to Join Our Expert Witness Panel

Route 1: Experienced Expert Witnesses

If you have already completed recognised expert witness training (such as Bond Solon) or are currently undertaking medico-legal work, you may apply directly to join our expert witness panel.

This route does not require exclusivity.

A panel registration fee of £175 + VAT applies.

Route 2: Sponsored Training Route

For clinicians who are new to medico-legal work and would like a supported pathway into expert witness practice, we offer a sponsored route into the field.

This route includes:

  • Access to our Expert Witness Training Course
  • Marking and feedback on written work
  • CPD certification

An upfront fee of £300 + VAT applies, followed by £1,500 + VAT deducted from your first instructed case upon successful onboarding to the panel.

Please note that this sponsored route requires exclusivity with Medico-Legal Healthcare.

Our Expert Witness Training Course runs every 3 months.

Route 3: Independent Training Route

Clinicians who wish to undertake the full training programme independently may enrol on our Expert Witness Training Course for £2,000 + VAT.

The programme covers:

  • Civil Procedure Rules (CPR Part 35)
  • Report writing to legal standards
  • Courtroom skills and expert witness responsibilities

Training is delivered by a senior barrister and experienced medico-legal professionals.

Upon successful completion of the course, clinicians may apply to join our expert witness panel or independently market themselves as qualified expert witnesses.
